Oh Poo! It’s promising no less than 9.2mm of rain on Wednesday in the Maldives! At this rate, by the time we get there, it’ll be raining a meter a minute… or the island will be submerged and we’ll have to spend two weeks in an air taxi flying around looking for it. Oh, hang on, Thursday's only going to get 6.5mm...
Google to the rescue! “Rain doesn't have to ruin your beach vacation! There are lots of fun things you can do indoors and still have a grand time.”… Great!
So what exciting things will we be doing?…
Plan a day at the beach game arcade. Huh? What beach game arcade? I think this should, probably, read beach bar. And, if we get that right, it’ll probably take care of the next day too.
Get pampered. Maybe the Ayurveda Village has a pamper parlour… who knows what Eastern delights a Kapha might be subjected to.
Head to the nearest ice cream parlor. A 45-minute air taxi flight away? In a tropical storm? Yeah… we could do. Thanks.
Head for the indoor pool. You’re joking, right? Even the shower in the room doesn’t have a roof!
Shop for antiques and art. “Look darling, Rodin’s “Thinker’ made entirely from coconut shells…. Lovely!” Sadly, Michaelangelo’s “David”, made up entirely of pretty seashells, will be confiscated as an illegal import when we get home.
Go bowling. Okay. Standing in the torrential rain lobbing coconuts down the beach at empty beer bottles sounds like a bit of fun…
Head to the local theater. Tonight’s performance is the critically acclaimed production “Maldivian Misery” with that riveting scene of a group of unhappy people playing Scrabble.
Take a beach treasure walk. Must remember to pack my trusty metal detector…
Thanks for the suggestions. Much appreciated.
