Recovering from my terminal bout of man-flu I thought I'd have a daily rant; starting with shoes.
I grew up in a country where wearing shoes was something one did when one went to church. And so, on a visit back home to the North East of England in the late 1960's , when I set off walking from my grandmother's back-to-back terraced house to the sweet shop on the opposite corner, I assumed that the wearing of shoes would not be necessary. Au contraire! My grandmother had a hissy fit. When I asked her why she told me that the neighbours would think that my parents could not afford to buy me shoes. So I hung my shoes around my neck and set off once again. The logic of this appeared to bypass my grandmother who berated me for my insolence and I've not, really, had a great relationship with footwear ever since.
So this is really cool; I just love the comment "...no shoes for health and safety reason":

So, great; no shoes.... which is all very well just as long as the beach isn't littered with broken coral and broken bottles...
Let's imagine that we're plodging about in the ocean with no shoes on and one of us stands on a fish. Well, standing on most fish won't be a problem, however, there are some that can prove a bit tricky. Lionfish, Scorpionfish, and Stonefish. Lionfish - mild poisoning. Scorpionfish - moderate to severe poisoning. Stonefish - severe to life-threatening poisoning. Life threatening?! Hmmm. So here's what to try to look out for, if you can see the buggers:

Of course we're hoping that, by now, everyone has cancelled their holidays to this dreadful, life-threatening, place. A holiday destination where you'll have all of your possessions stolen, your bed linen will be blood stained, you'll be forced to drink water and eat curry from sunrise to sunset and, if that is not enough, the local wildlife will kill you. If you're intending to go to Meedhupparu on October 26th cancel your trip. Brussels is much safer.
