Getting from Malé to Meedhupparu

It's a 40 - 45 minute air taxi ride with Maldivian Air Taxis... sometimes, I guess, it takes a little longer...

Apparently Maldivian Air Taxis have 20 or so de Havilland DHC-6 'Twin Otters', designed in 1964 (I believe that they've been updated since then) and seating about 20 people. According to some the flight is a bit 'noisy'.

I understand from research that your bags do not travel to the resort with you and are sent on 'later', possibly by boat; and so you need to board the air taxi with everything that you need to survive on a tropical island for a while.

Of course these essentials are likely to include creams, gels and liquids that you can't take on board on the long-haul flight with you. So we are planning to load up a separate bag and to pack it on the top of our hold luggage. Once we've cleared Maldivian customs having had our dog, our pig, our whisky, our religious idols and our 'one-handed comics' confiscated we will then extricate the "essentials" bag and go on our merry way... nothing like a bit of forward planning.
